    CGS Comes Through Once Again

Posted by DRINK Machine on 18th Nov 2015

I have been patiently waiting to get my hands on the Ferocious end mills, prior to being CNC, I was advised to not use them, I previously was using a Korean made 3 flute end mill, even as a finish end mill you could feel every stepover, and had a terrible floor finish. With the 2 flute Ferocious the stepover 'ribs' were gone, and a great reflective floor finish was left. I can't review on the limits of the tool as I run it on a 3hp knee, but with .100 woc, 1" doc, 4200rpm 33ipm, in 6061 it runs great, the .004 chip load was a perfect recommendation for the power I had available. I noticed that the floor finish is better when you leave about .025" or more on the floor for finish, if you try and take say .010" it has a slightly diminished look and feel. The coating seems to work great, after a couple hours of cutting the end mill looks and feels just as it did when new.
